On Friday 23rd October 2026, 10:30am – 11:00am the United Nations Association (UNA) Tunbridge Wells & Wealden are raising the UN flag in commemoration of UN Day on the steps of The Tunbridge Wells Town Hall, TN1 1RS.
This event will re-affirm trust in international institutions and the international order established by the UN Charter signed in San Francisco on the 26th June 1945 and ratified on 24th October 1945.
A short speech will be given by our Hon. President, Lesley Abdela MBE.
What are the United Nations Association (UNA) UK and UNA Tunbridge Wells & Wealden?
UNA-UK were established in September 1945 as a people’s movement to enshrine the values of the UN in the hearts and minds of the public and ensure strong UK support for the Organisation.
Our work continues to connect people in the UK to the UN and makes the case for international cooperation as an indispensable tool. This includes:
- Communications and education initiatives that encourage people to think and act globally, and make the case for the UN and multilateralism afresh;
- Supporting and mobilising our network of members, supporters and Groups across the country to take action in support of multilateral cooperation;
- Equipping young people to be engaged and responsible global citizens;
- Working in international coalitions and partnerships to be part of the change that we want to see in the world.
They consist of local groups all over the UK, many based in Universities and many founded in towns across the country.
