Join us for a sociable walk on Sunday 27th September, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, to mark the start of autumn and the autumnal equinox organised by the Extinction Rebellion (XR) group.
We will have a leisurely walk along the River Grom from Tunbridge Wells common to Harrisons Rocks in Groombridge (about 4 and a half miles – we expect it to take about 2 hours).
When & Where?
Meet at the car park by the cricket club on Tunbridge Wells Common at 10:00am for a 10:15am start.

The route:
We will pass High Rocks and skirt the edge of Groombridge before heading to Harrisons Rocks where there’s a stall selling refreshments (hot drinks, cakes and toasted bagels) and toilet facilities available. There are also two pubs in Groombridge. Parking is free at the common, and there is a bus or the Spa Valley railway for the return journey from Groombridge to Tunbridge Wells if you don’t want to walk back – see times below. We hope to be joined by Emma Brown who has studied the ecology of the River Grom.
The walk is mostly slightly undulating and not too demanding, suitable footwear is recommended. For a slightly shorter and flatter walk you could join us at High Rocks where there is parking (there may be a charge) at about 11:00. Please contact us if you are planning to do this so we can be sure we don’t miss you!
